Kuala Lumpur → Singapore, the easy one
Modern, fast, and almost effortless — the perfect first rail trip in the region. The ETS does the distance; a short shuttle handles the border.

Two trains, one easy day
The ETS runs south from KL to Johor Bahru in comfort. From there, the short shuttle hops across the causeway to Woodlands in Singapore, where immigration is quick and well organised. It's the trip we recommend to anyone nervous about rail travel.
Why it's a good starter
Everything that intimidates new rail travellers — booking, borders, classes — is at its gentlest here. The signage is in English, the schedules are reliable, and nothing about it requires a sleeper berth or a 4am alarm.
Make a day of it
Leave KL after a late breakfast and you'll be in Singapore for dinner. It's short enough to do on a whim, which is exactly what makes it worth doing.
